For those who know Stussy’s original brand image, it may come as a surprise to see the level of versatility they’ve reached since revamping their design aesthetic. Formed in the late 80s by surfing connoisseur Shawn Stussy, the legendary designer immediately garnered a large following, inspiring youth in-and-around Southern California. The brand’s growth picked up rapidly after the creation of their brick-and-mortar store in collaboration with Supreme’s James Jebbia. Soon after, their major success in the Hip-Hop community led to the global distribution of the brand and the creation of their “International Tribe.” This elite group of fashion creators spearheaded even more development and made Stussy what can only be described as a household name. What began as graphic tees and basic screen printing has shifted into intricate knitwear, tailoring, and countless other advancements in apparel design.
